At Waasa Graphics, sustainability is a long-term commitment — not just a statement.
For decades, we’ve worked systematically to reduce the environmental impact of printing, and today, we continue that journey with renewed focus through our participation in the EcoVadis sustainability program.
We take responsibility for the environment we operate in. That means choosing ecologically sound materials, partnering with suppliers who share our values, and applying the zero waste principle across our operations. Together with our customers and partners, we strive to reduce emissions, save energy, and minimize waste — every day.
Our goal is to reduce the environmental footprint of printed products throughout their entire life cycle. We follow strict internal monitoring and comply with high standards for paper, inks, chemicals, emissions, waste, and energy use. Our environmental guidelines are not static — they evolve as we continuously improve.
Environmentally Certified Materials
We use only trusted, certified brands in our production. All papers are FSC® or PEFC™ certified, and our suppliers must meet internationally recognized standards such as ISO 14001, EMAS, or equivalent. Their responsibility covers the entire papermaking process — from sustainable forest management to manufacturing.
Our inks and chemicals are environmentally approved, and packaging materials meet the requirements of environmental authorities. Advances in printing technology have allowed us to replace harmful substances with safer alternatives, without compromising quality.
Energy-Efficient Printing Technology
Our production machines are Energy Star® certified, consuming up to 50% less energy than older models. We’ve invested in Low Energy UV offset technology, which offers significant savings in energy, time, and materials. UV drying allows sheets to move directly to finishing without delay, reducing the need for additives and improving efficiency.
Our digital presses use food-safe inks, tested and certified by Smithers Pira, and compliant with EU food packaging regulations and FDA standards. This means even food packaging printed with us meets the highest safety and sustainability standards.
Workplace Responsibility
Sustainability also means caring for our people. We maintain a clean, comfortable working environment and actively support our employees in developing their knowledge of environmental practices and workplace well-being.
